Frayed MagSafe Power Adapters Being Replaced By Apple

If you treated your MagSafe power adapter like an egg but the cord has frayed anyways, Apple may replace your adapter for free. Apple posted a Knowledge Base article about the replacement of frayed cords. Even if your product is out of warranty, Apple says you may be eligible for a free replacement if your adapter shows no signs of abuse. Read the KB article for all the details. Free sure beats the $80 it would take to buy a new one.

Another Site To Find Good iPhone Apps

Here’s yet another web site to find iPhone applications. AppVee has the applications broken down into categories and includes screenshots, videos, and a multi-criteria review system (ease of use, interface, etc). Based on the individual criteria, the app is given an overall rating between zero and five stars. I image the iPhone web site review space is going to explode.

Microsoft Office Irony: It’s Best Run On A Mac?

office2008.png

According to a recent Fortune Small Business article, the best way to run Microsoft Office is on a Mac. The article talks about some of the advantages and disadvantages of running Office on a Mac vs. a PC.

The article is worth a read if your small business is interested in running Office 2008 or perhaps even introducing Macs into your environment. The article does include one FUD quote however: “And if you use Web-based office productivity tools like Google Apps, Basecamp or Zoho, expect trouble. In my testing, pages just sometimes wouldn’t load or render properly. We never could figure out why.” I’m not sure what Jonathan Blum (the author) was doing, but using these sites in Firefox on my Mac works just fine.

If you’ve been having some problems with iPhone software 2.0, Apple hopefully has your fix. I just fired up iTunes tonight and much to my surprise, iPhone 2.0.1 software update was available. What’s included? Two words, “Bug fixes”. The update fills in at 242MB. I haven’t been having a lot of problems with my iPhone, but I have had a few crashes now and then. Hopefully 2.0.1 will treat my iPhone well.
